Exclusive Ofna Hyper 9 Info

Ofna has always been famous at the local track and in the back yard with their 1/8 Hyper buggy series. At first glance, some may think the new Hyper 9 looks like a Losi 8ight knock off with its thin chassis design, but the Hyper 9 is far from a Losi 8ight! Compared to the other Hypers, Ofna has redesigned their buggy series from the ground up. The most noticeable features you can see right away are the angle of the engine and the thin chassis. To me this buggy looks like a sure fire contender that will be able to keep up with competiton brands such as Losi, Kyosho, Xray, fellow Jammin, Mugen, and others.

While designing the Hyper 9, Ofna needed to keep everything as light as possible, because the lighter the vehicle is, the better corner speed it will have and the faster acceleration it will have. To acheive a light platform, Ofna used less screws, less plastics, and less aluminum.

Most noticeable on the new Hyper 9 is the focus on a low center of gravity. This equals better cornering, and better handling. To acheive a low center of gravity, the engine was tilted inward 25 degrees. Doing this helps with a few things- it moves weight torward the center of the chassis and also pulls pipe closer to the chassis.

The Hyper 9 is due early May, which is just in time for the race season to start back up! What do you guys think of the new platform? Winner or loser? Looks like the other manufacturers should watch their backs!

I'd like to see how it does against XRAY's new buggy, the XB808. I look forward to seeing both of these nitro buggies at the Worlds in September.
