Of all the unusual ways to control an RC helicopter, this has got to take the cake. A guy named Josh has figured out how to use his iPhone as an RC transmitter and has successfully hovered his T-Rex 450 using it. Check out the video here, and his site for the details:
As a fellow software engineer, I have to say that using SSH over WiFi to pull this off is really cool. Now he just needs to find a smaller router. Very clever and original!

I really have no idea how to turn an iPhone into an RC Transmitter! That was really clever and so innovative. That was really nice. I enjoyed watching the video with Mike Dillard Review people.
