Thats right! HPI has just announced the release of their NEXT addition to the Savage family! The Savage XL is faster, stronger, and not to mention 55mm longer and 25mm wider than the Savage X 4.6! The new Savage XL is also powered by the all new K5.9 motor, which is a whopping .36 cubic inch sized motor! With re-designed TVP's, new tires, a new body, a stock 3 Speed transmission, strengthened differentials and uprights, and several other new features, the Savage XL is ready to hit the bashing grounds!
What HPI Says:
The Savage XL - Extra Large Size and Mega Power!
Check out the new addition to the Savage line-up! The Savage XL is the extra-large, extra-tough and extra-powerful big brother to the Savage X monster truck. For improved stability and handling, the Savage XL has a 55mm longer wheelbase and a 25mm wider track. With a longer wheelbase, wider stance and huge 5.9cc (.36 cubic inch) engine, the Savage XL is ready to rock and roll right out of the box. The HPI design team added strategically strengthened hop-up parts to tame the massive K5.9 power for unmatched durability. The Savage XL soaks up the rough stuff with ease because it's the biggest, toughest, and most powerful Savage ever!

The new Savage XL looks like it will definitely live up to the name of the legendary Savage, and most likely raise the bar even more! The XL will no doubt be seen everywhere. We will keep you all updated on this new beast, and hopefully eventually end up with a review.

I bought a Savage XL about a month ago. After one week, the pull start cylinder pin broke. I called HPI customer service and they mailed me a new one. However, the gentleman at HPI first gave me a hard time by saying they dont cover wear and tear on the warranty. I explained to him that the truck was brandnew. Anyways, I love this truck. It soaks up the bumps like nothing. The other day, I hit the curb at full speed and the truck spun and flipped several times, it looked really bad. When I went to retrieve the truck, it only sustained minor scratches on the body. No damages to the tires, suspension, arms and chasis. I was impressed. The only issue Im having is that the motor tends to run hot when it's tuned right. The moment I richen it a little bit (1/8 incriments) I notice the truck becomes sluggish. The engine is running around 300-320 degrees. Any advise? I love this truck. I bought an HPI Goliath tires for it which made the truck look even meaner :) I paid $589 plus tax, so about $620 out the door. The HPI Goliath tires cost me $100 for all four. This truck is heavy duty, handsome, and muscular. It's bad a--!!!!!!!
