Pilot View FPV 2400 Overview

Earlier I reviewed the R/C Aerial Reconnaissance from the Intel ISEF. A lot of people may wonder what my fascination was with such an amateur product in comparison to the Pilot View FPV 2400, and a look at the price tag of $549.00 may pretty much sum it up. But for the dent it makes in your pocket, it makes up for in fun. The Pilot View lets you turn any mobile* product into a FPV experience.

It has a very nice range of 1 kilometer, which is more than enough for most. A very irritating factor is the use of the 2.4 GHz system that they decided to go with. There are clear interference issues that have to be avoided from the start, and which are clearly noted in the FAQ. So the asterisk is well placed from the earlier paragraph, and I think this would bother the casual consumer more than a hobbyist.

The 2.4 GHz system they decided to go with really isn't their fault, to be honest. It is a handicap imposed by the powers that be in the FCC. But that is an entirely different issue meant for another day. The video quality is quite superb as shown here.

It really creates an incredible experience, and I think everyone should try it at least once.

The product is great, but I could do without all the extra headaches that come along with it. In comparison to other products that come ready out of the box, this one has quite a few demands. Not that charging the goggles by usb is a big issue for a techno-geek, but I can't figure out why that was a first choice for charging a prime component.

I still think this is a great buy, and once again, you have to experience it to believe just how awesome it really is.
