The Schumacher Cat SX is making a splash before its initial release, and this summer we'll see if the buzz it created at the Nurnberg Toy Fair was worth it. The Cat SX is one of many new 4wd cars to make it into production, and is a welcome trend for the serious hobbyist. 4wd to me makes the difference between a car you run up and down your driveway, and a car that can run without fear on a country road.
It's built for racing, and if the news I have on the 3 belt system is correct, then you're looking at some really good overall control. Everything about Cat SX screams new, although a couple of enthusiasts seem to have a few choice words about the name Schumacher chose. Pointless bickering aside, the specs are an empty promise of value that I would be more than willing to put my faith into.
There are a lot of parts for the perfectionist to fine-tune in the Cat SX, and especially for modders, they will appreciate how hardcore they can get. It is (thank goodness!) optimized for LiPo packs and has a clamp motor mount in case you want to fine tune weight distribution.
If you're having a hard time deciding the next big thing you want to purchase in RC then give the Cat SX a shot. There really isn't a lot not to like about the Cat SX, or the Schumacher brand. Perhaps a few mumbles about outsourcing will fill the air, but when the Cat SX is released it will be pushed out by an overwhelming gasp.
