Pulled straight from the 'what will they think of next category', well known toy maker Silverlit is still riding the success of the award winning PicooZ series of toys with an innovative new twist. The Wingsmaster I-Bird is one of the most fun newcomers to the RC world. This video here shows why this hobby will never reach an end.
I'll admit to personally watching it a good 3 times, just to believe my eyes. Silverlit's RC division is such a huge success that it has its own separate site called the flying club. All the flash and hoopla on the site doesn't live up to the sleeper hit this toy is turning out to be. I haven't really heard any glowing reviews from anyone on either side of the world, which is either a good thing or a bad thing depending on your perspective.
At 499 g and resembling a hummingbird, this compact toy is easy enough for an 8 year old to handle. There may be some durability issues, but if you're an owner of a PicooZ then this is nothing new to you. 6x AA batteries are required for the transmitter, from which the bird can be charged through. It comes in a variety of colors, so there is no doubt of the gifting qualities of the I-Bird.
£29.46 is the going rate, and depending on where you purchase it you might qualify for free shipping. Overall the I-Bird fits in nicely with the rest of Silverlit's lineup, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them add yet another award to their resume. But I still have to ask, where is the press for this?
