Team Associated TC4 RTR Touring Car

Some critical characteristics to an excellent road racing car is weight-distribution for good balance and handling, excellent power to weight ratio for quick acceleration, and an efficient drive train system for getting good range for sustained performance. Wait, we are talking about RC cars right? Well, even in RC racing, these are some key characteristics to winning races and the Team Associated TC4 RTR Touring Car comes well prepared for competitive RC racing. It has some of these race winning design features such as an efficient shaft drive system, good weight distribution of the motor versus the battery pack and excellent use of graphite components for low weight for good acceleration, but the strength and stiffness needed for good handling.

Reedy Radon 17-turn motor

Built to improve on the race winning design of the TC3 chasis, the TC4 provides some nice design features to give you a competitive edge in your touring races. Looking at the layout of the components on the chasis, Team Associated has thought about the centerline balance for good roll characteristics of the car as it transitions through the turns quickly. Having better balance makes the car easier to tune and the oil-filled shocks help dampen the motions on your most challenging tracks. More grip from good tuning, equals better power to the tires and the on-board Reedy Motor provides good power to the driveshaft 4WD system. Also, included with the car is a LRP digital speed control, Team Associated XP2 Radio system installed, and many factory team parts as well. All that is needed is a 6 cell battery pack and charger to get your model on the track. One downside is that in the configuration as shown, this model is not set-up for using LiPo battery packs. Also, as of this post Associated also has a TC5 model in kit form which is worth considering. But, for RTR action the TC4 is tough to beat and will get the beginner out racing in no time.

Based on the Factory Team RC8 Buggy, the new Factory Team RC8T 1:8 scale “truggy” is sure to be a hit in the gas powered truck racing circuit. Team Associated has come a long way from the the on road designs of their past such as the RC150 and the RC 500 onroad cars. Now, these RC marvels have features that enable them to track quickly in off road conditions, and tear up your local RC dirt track. The new RC8T has capabilities that Team Associated describes as allowing the car to “experience unparalleled and effortless ‘pop’ as they launch from the jumps.” And they describe the “key design elements” that are in this new truggy to include: strength, durability, maximum corner speeds and rough track handling. This new gas RC truck/buggy is sure to be a winner.

Construction and Required Equipment

2 Channel Servo set-up for throttle and steering

The Team Associated Factory Team RC8T has the looks and quality to be one of your favorite RC cars. It has excellent design heritage since it is based on the RC8 which gives you a proven design. The main differences in the new RC8T compared to the RC8 are that the RC8T: is an unassembled kit versus an assembled kit for the RC8, has “big bore” shocks with 4mm gold shock struts, and CVAs without rubber boots (see the website for complete details and comparisons). Assembling the RC8T will require: a .21 or .28 class rear exhaust engine, 2 channel radio (fm/pcm recommended), receiver, 2 servos, 4.8v to 6V receiver battery pack, muffler and components to assemble, fuel, glow starter, starter box, lexan-specific spray paint for the unfinished body and basic RC modeling tools. The truggy features a strong aluminum chassis in black anodization. This is one nicely made and looking RC model that sure to be a favorite of most race truck enthusiasts.

With the new 1:10 scale onroad race car, the 1:10 scale World GT class racing has just got more competitive. Team Associated has just released a new Factory Team RC10R5. Based on the successful RC12R5 platform, the RC10R5 has some nice new features for your success at the track, including a woven carbon fiber chassis, new factory Team shocks, a “pivot ball-link” chassis allowing for independent adjustment for the car’s handling, an updated active strut front end, just to name a few. The front end design features a foam front bumper and an “active-strut” front end which Team Associated designed to allow for adjusting the caster and the track width. This is a very capable and tunable design which will allow RC racers to tweak their cars just right for their particular track conditions.

The RC10R5 has quality components with Team Associated designers using nice blue-anodized aluminum parts, carbon fiber parts and chassis and strong and efficient gear drive system. The car requires a 2 channel RC radio with surface frequency, batteries, battery charger, ESC (electronic speed control), a RC Electric motor, pinion gear, 1:10 scale car body, and tools as required for assembly.
