Three interesting flying wings have caught my attention recently. The first is the VecJet from New Directions RC. This traditional wing with pusher prop has a very untraditional feature - vectored thrust. That means the motor is mounted on a shaft attached to the rudder, and turns left and right with it. This setup enables the VecJet's signature move, the "spin cycle", where it spins madly like a boomerang. Check out a video of the plane in action.
Another wing that's making news is the 27" wingspan SuperFly, from SuperFly RC. This foam wing has gotten rave reviews for its incredible durability. One dealer has been known to demonstrate its construction by bending the wing tips together until they touch, with no damage. This would be a great delta wing trainer for someone with a couple aileron planes under their belt.
Finally, there's a range of wings from RiteWingRC for those who are interested in building their own. You can hear a rather long interview with creator Chris Klick on episode 38 of the All Things That Fly podcast. These guys are very serious about construction, and offer a series of build DVDs to demonstrate their technique.
